Raihan Rafi, the director (Surongo, Poramon 2) Toofan, which also happens to be Shakib Khan’s 250th movie, is a bloody, sensual, action-packed thriller about the title character, Toofan, a man who becomes strong after killing a formidable goon at the age of 15. Seeing his potential, he is adopted by renowned Don Bashir (Misha Sawdagor), under whose guidance he develops into a more callous and heedless power-hungry person.
At one point, the government he assists in taking power chooses to get rid of him after observing his menacing expansion and murderous rampage. Toofan tries to escape his fate by using his double, the struggling actor Shanto.

In terms of performance, Shakib Khan is dominant as Toofan and plays up to his naïve appearance as Shanto. Mimi Chakraborty gets a few scenes as his girlfriend Suchona, although her character is far more compelling and well-written than Masuma Rahman Nabila’s poor Julie. Sultan’s terrifying life is well-supported by Loknath Dey and Gazi Rakayet as he goes on horrific rampages and establishes himself as a ruthless, demonic killer. Chanchal Chowdhury plays the terrifying ACP Akram in a brief but impactful role.
